He was born 57 years ago - Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson´s speech at the 35th Grammys, 1993

"My childhood was completely taken away from me. There was no Christmas, there were no birthdays, it was not a normal childhood, nor the normal pleasures of childhood. Those were exchanged for hard work, struggle and pain and eventually material and professional success. But as an awful price, I cannot re-create that part of my life.

However, today, when I create my music, I feel like an instrument of nature. I wonder what delight nature must feel when we open our hearts and express our god-given talents. The sound of approval rolls across the universe, and the whole world abounds in magic, wonder fills our hearts, for what we've glimpsed, for an instant, the playfulness of life. And that's why I love children and learned so much from being around them.

I realised that many of our world's problems today - from the inner city crime, to large scale wars and terrorism, and our overcrowded prisons - are a result of the fact that children have had their childhood stolen from them. The magic, the wonder, the mystery, and the innocence of a child's heart, are the seeds of creativity that will heal the world. I really believe that.

What we need to learn from children isn't childish. Being with them connects us to the deeper wisdom of life, which is everpresent and only ask to believe. They know the way to solutions that lie waiting to be recognised within our own hearts. Today, I would like to thank all the children of the world, including the sick and deprived... I am so sensitive to your pain. (...)"

"A gyerekek játékos mosolyukban megmutatják nekem a mindenkiben lakozó Istent. Ezek a gyerekek emlékeztetnek az élet értékeire, különösen a fiatalok, akiket még nem érintett meg a gyűlölet, az előítélet és a kapzsiság. Ma, amikor a világ ennyire zavaros, és bonyolult, sokkal inkább szükségünk van a gyerekekre, mint valaha.

Children show me in their playful smiles the divine in everyone. This simple goodness shines straight from their hearts. Being with them connects us to the deeper wisdom of life. These children are a reminder of the preciousness of all life, especially young lives untouched by hatred, prejudice and greed. Now, when the world is so confused and its problems so complicated, we need our children more than ever.
Their natural wisdom points the way to solutions that lie waiting to be recognized within our own hearts. Children are the world's foremost idealists and optimists. It is for that reason that 'Heal The World" is organizing the World's Children Congress next year, made up exclusively of delegates, aged 8 to 16. The world desperately needs their innocent perspective on the world's problems. We have to heal our wounded planet of the chaos, despair and senseless destruction we see today. The mission of HTW, my mission, is healing. Pure and simple. To heal the world, we must start by healing our children."

6 Signs You Are Not Living The Life You Are Meant To

It was Abraham Maslow who introduced the need to be “self actualized,” and what he identified is that people have an inherent need to realize their potential. It’s part of our very fabric — when the challenges we face seem to fit perfectly with our strengths, we feel fully engaged, absorbed in the task. It’s when we don’t question ourselves, and what we are doing has purpose and meaning larger than ourselves. And, it’s when we feel most alive, most fulfilled, and probably, most happy.

And yet, so many of us go about our daily lives, and never seem to be able to fully answer the question: Is this really the life I’m meant to live?

So, to help answer the question, here are six signs that the life you are living is not meant for you.

You Numb Your Feelings. Drinking too much, working excessively, shopping excessively, overeating, gambling, and yes, too much time on the internet, are all ways we can numb our feelings. And the reason we do is that we are trying to feel something other than what we are feeling in the moment. Because what we are feeling is discomfort, dissatisfaction, a feeling of unrest. And it’s a sign — a sign that something is not right. The need to distract from the discomfort, however, is a way to avoid facing it, and facing the reality that this is not how you want to be feeling, and this is not the life you want to be living.
The Fix: Stop numbing and start listening. Listen to what is really under the surface. Is it a longing for connection? Is it a need to feel that your work matters? Is it the desire to make a difference? Is it the desire to create something? To feel more challenged? Whatever the feeling is, listen to it until it’s crystal clear. Once you know exactly the way you want to feel, you can begin scripting the life that will get you there.

Signs from the Universe in Your Everyday Life

Recognize the Signs from the Universe that You Encounter in Your Everyday Life

Everyone of us, at some point in our lives, have been in a situation where we really wanted to know whether or not we were making the right decision or if our choice was right, or in what direction our life would change if we took certain action.

The good news is that you do not need to visit a psychic or a fortune-teller to get a prediction of the outcome of certain choices actions and decisions. There are pretty unambiguous signs that life itself gives you to direct warn or encourage you.

If You Want to Improve Your Memory, Try Climbing a Tree

Fejlesztenéd a memóriád? Mássz fára! - olvasmány szószedettel és feladattal

A new study says tree climbing is good for your mind
Turns out, the secret to remembering where you left your car keys may not lie with the tried-and-true method of retracing your steps or inside a prescription pill bottle. According to researchers from the University of North Florida, climbing a tree or balancing on a beam can dramatically improve cognitive skills, including memory.
Those two exercises are examples of proprioceptively dynamic activities. According to the The American Heritage Stedman’s Medical Dictionary, proprioception is “the unconscious perception of movement and spatial orientation arising from stimuli within the body itself.” The dynamic part is added when you couple that effort with another element like route-planning or locomotion.
According to a press release from UNF, the results demonstrated remarkable cognitive gains: “After two hours, participants were tested again, and researchers found that their working memory capacity had increased by 50 percent, a dramatic improvement.”
For those who don’t have easy access to a forest or balance beam, now might be the perfect time to take up parkour. Don’t worry, it’s still totally way cool.

Can your child bounce back from failure?

Do you consider yourself to be resilient? Can you bounce back from failure, dust yourself off and power on? The good news is that research shows resilience can be learned, and children are learning how to cope with failure from the adults in their life, both at home and at school.
In its simplest form, resilience describes something that reverts to its original state after it has been bent or stretched – and we're not talking about yoga. Being resilient doesn't mean that you don't experience hardship or feel stressed, it just means that you are able to recover.
