Spinning Silhouette Optical Illusion

Spinning Silhouette Optical Illusion that is a great way to figure out if you use more of the left or right side of your brain.  When you stare as this silhouette which way is it spinning? left or right? After concentrating on it for about 30 seconds it actually switched directions on me!  So which way does she spin for you? Can you see it spin both directions?

To Do for Fun Printable List

To Do for Fun Printable List

Back in February, I realized that I’d become pretty consumed with crossing things off my to-do list. Laundry was getting done. Meals were planned. Floors were mopped. Dust bunnies were trapped and released into the wild.
Things were cooking along pretty good, but I noticed that I we were in a rut. A rut that didn’t include much in the way of FUN.
So, I whipped up another kind of to-do list.
A To-Do for Fun list.

Eight prompts and a few everyday reminders that I use to help me break out of the laundry/bed-making/dish scrubbing/floor sweeping whirlwind.
I fill this list out each week and slap it on my fridge. It encourages us to get out, try new things, tackle new projects, and think of other people in our life.

On Sunday, I usually peruse my Pinterest boards and fill out my To Do for Fun list. My girl helps pick out crafts, recipes, and we talk about our upcoming week. You can download the full size PDF here.
Now, it’s important to me that I paint an accurate picture of my experience with this list.
Lest you mistake me for a supermom that has now gleefully tacked an additional eight to-do’s onto an already long list. I’m not.
I use this as inspiration—as a tool to help me think of something easy and fun to do when the day is taking a downhill turn or when I want to focus all my energy on my girl while the baby naps.
I have never…not once…done everything on the weekly list.
I have hit two birds with one stone and made Bunny Bait (make a treat) and distributed it among family and friends (do something for someone else).
One week, our “do/learn something new” was to teach the baby to wave bye-bye.
For three weeks straight “go to the library” was our “go somewhere”. We never went.
But have had a lot of fun, tried out some new recipes, and turned the music on a whole lot more. This has been a wonderful little tool and I thought it would be fun to share.
Enjoy!

Probing questions, Socratic Questions

How we change what others think, feel, believe and do

When seeking more detail, there are a number of types probes you can use, depending on what they are saying and what you want to discover.

Clarification

When they use vague or unclear language, or when you just need more detail, seek to further understand them by asking for clarification.
What exactly did you mean by 'XXX'?
What, specifically, will you do next week?
Could you tell me more about YY?

How to confirm travel arrangements in a letter

Utazás és szállás visszaigazolása írásban - néhány tipp és tanács a levélíráshoz!
How to confirm travel arrangements in a letter
Dear Mr Brown,
This is to confirm the arrangements we discussed over the phone today. Enclosed are your airline tickets for the British Airways Airlines, flight number 5123, leaving London at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, July 2, 2015, arriving in Moscow at 9:45 a.m. Our colleague Mr James Smith will meet you at the airport. He will be wearing a dark green name tag and there will be a blue flag in his hands with your name on it. As you requested, I left the return flight open to allow you some flexibility in your stay in Moscow.
I reserved a double room for you with a king-size bed at the Hotel Metropol for three nights. I'm sorry, but there were no rooms available with view to the Kremlin towers. I assure you, however, that the view is spectacular from any window in the hotel. The hotel is a two-minute walk from the main sights and the Red Square and it provides unbeatable service. High-speed WiFi access is available in every hotel room and the lobby.
I hope these arrangements meet your approval. If you need anything else, please call me at 123-4567. I am happy to help whatever problems may arise.
I look forward to your arrival.

A letter of complaint

HOW TO COMPLAIN, AND WRITE A LETTER OF COMPLAINT

Everyone has consumer rights. You have the right to know what you will receive before you pay for a product or service. When you are not satisfied, you have to make a complaint to get your money back or to have the product replaced.

BEFORE COMPLAINING

Review what happened and think about your options and rights. Consider the facts of the case, and what you want to happen. If you are not sure what your rights are, or how to proceed, contact a consumer group and discuss the situation. Talking with such an organization may help you decide how to handle the problem. Pay attention to all printed information you have about the case, such as ads you responded to, brochures, warranty, guarantee, all letters between you and the business and any other papers you received from the company, including agreements, instructions, receipts and billing statements. If you signed a contract, read it carefully and ask the company for explanations of anything you don't understand. The contract or warranty may limit your options or provide you with certain rights. Decide what you want from the company, such as repair or replacement of the item, a refund, an exchange, a credit, a correction of the company's records, or the payment of damages. Consider whether a compromise would be acceptable. It may be easier to resolve the complaint if you agree to a settlement that falls short of a full refund.

First day at the office

First day at the office - brit - mp3
First day at the office

Your first day at a new workplace is quite important. You meet your future colleagues, first impressions are made, you move into your own cubicle or work station and you get familiar with the office space. It’s very important how your new colleagues get to know you on the first day. You should pay attention to your appearance on the first day too and how you interact with the other employees. Try to be friendly but confident. That’s never a bad idea. Usually, your immediate boss or an assigned colleague shows you around the office and tells you about the ground rules. Your hiring manager might have already told you about them at the time of your selection, but if not, make sure you quickly find out about office timings, office attire, break timings, leave policy and such. It will also come in handy if you know about all the rules and regulations followed in the organization.

Your elusive creative genius

The author of 'Eat, Pray, Love,' Elizabeth Gilbert has thought long and hard about some big topics. Her fascinations: genius, creativity and how we get in our own way when it comes to both.

Why you should listen

Elizabeth Gilbert faced down a premidlife crisis by doing what we all secretly dream of -- running off for a year. Her travels through Italy, India and Indonesia resulted in the megabestselling and deeply beloved memoir Eat, Pray, Love, about her process of finding herself by leaving home.

She's a longtime magazine writer -- covering music and politics for Spin and GQ -- as well as a novelist and short-story writer. Her books include the story collection Pilgrims, the novel Stern Men (about lobster fishermen in Maine) and a biography of the woodsman Eustace Conway, called The Last American Man. Her work has been the basis for two movies so far (Coyote Ugly, based on her own tale of working at the famously raunchy bar in New York City), and Eat, Pray, Love, with the part of Gilbert played by Julia Roberts. Not bad for a year off.
In 2010, Elizabeth published Committed, a memoir exploring her ambivalent feelings about the institution of marriage. And her 2013 novel, The Signature of All Things, is "a sprawling tale of 19th century botanical exploration."
Gilbert also owns and runs the import shop Two Buttons in Frenchtown, New Jersey.

What others say

“Gilbert is irreverent, hilarious, zestful, courageous, intelligent, and in masterful command of her sparkling prose.” — Booklist

China’s Latest Glass-Bottomed Bridge isn’t for the Faint of Heart

Another glass suspension bridge just opened in China and, well, this one's a doozy. The aptly-named Brave Man's Bridge (or Haohan Bridge) spans almost 1,000 feet over a gaping chasm in central China's Shiniuzhai National Geopark:

According to the South China Morning Post, the original bridge was constructed completely of wood. Park officials installed a single glass pane in the bridge last year to compete with other adrenaline-pumping attractions before eventually deciding to resurface the entire structure with 9-inch-thick panes of glass.
Obviously, nothing would ruin the thrill of staring into 590 feet of emptiness between the bridge and the ground like scuffs, so the brave souls that traverse the bridge are required to don booties to protect the glass.

Possibly the only thing more nerve-wracking than crossing the bridge would be constructing it:

A worker who helped construct the bridge reaffirmed the structure's safety in an interview with the state-owned China News Service:
"The steel frame used to support and encase the glass bridge is also very strong and densely built, so even if a glass is broken, travelers won't fall through."

The Brave Man's Bridge pales in comparison to a similar structure that is currently under construction in Zhangjiajie. According to CNN, that 1,400-foot bridge will stand 1,000 feet off of the ground, earning the designation of being the world's longest and tallest glass bridge.
